Mary Awodele Boasts an impressive career in tech. He started as a specialized system administrator and had roles as a ServiceNow engineer and business analyst. He received a promotion as a tech consultant, but his eyes were focused on the role of Head of People Operations.

Undoubtedly, with his in-demand skills and expertise, he is highly qualified for any position. He holds certifications in database, cloud cybersecurity, and software.

He has many colleagues in the industry asking him for advice and looking to him for tech job opportunities during his tech career. He decided to launch a business to meet the demand.

In September 2020, Awodele founded the MyTechBestfriend academy, which focuses on career development, résumé review, and certification teaching.

Once clients complete boot camps, they can get lucrative work within four months, with high salaries at companies like Pinterest, Playstation, Salesforce, and Amazon, to name a few.

Due to the success of his clients, Awodele offers additional courses and training. The academy now has instructions for 12 IT certifications in Oracle, ITIL, AWS, Azure, Splunk, ServiceNow, and Salesforce, according to its website.

“I want to help minorities get high -paying careers and increase minority wealth,” Awodele told AfroTech. “There’s a lot of work here in web development, regular software developer, or cybersecurity. Within each of those areas, there’s so much suitable space and so much talent. You can maximize your salary within the unconventional ones. “Taking people into unconventional careers in the tech space to increase their demand, make them extremely competitive, and increase minority wealth, especially within Black homes, is the main focus.”

A Statistician report shows that tech companies have only 22% of talent minorities.

MyTechBestfriend accepts clients quarterly and offers new courses each term. Future clients can expect upcoming boot camps on cybersecurity (Q2), data analytics (Q3), an account executive (Q4), according to course catalogs.

Tuition is between $ 4,000 to $ 5,000; however, for those experiencing financial hardship, the academy offers scholarships provided by Black In Technology.

“Despite the affordability of tuition, there are still people in general who can’t really afford it. Scholarships will help people get better jobs and change generations. That is very rewarding to improve the lives of more people, ”Awodele said.
