“November 5, 2003. I knew we had to start a company before I was 50, because a 50-year-old couldn’t start a company. So, on 49-November 24 my birthday — we started,” he said. by Fred Luddy, founder of ServiceNow.
He started the company with a single laptop on a desk in his house. Although he founded the company on his own, he could not build it on his own. In fact, few of the people fully believe in what Fred does so they volunteer their time to work with him, even if he can’t pay them. Some of those people are still here, speaking volumes on the kind of employees that set the precedent for who we are today.

A culture of teamwork
For Jay B., employee No. 28 after being contracted for the company, working with ServiceNow is about teamwork and communication. “When we started, it was about how we got together, had fun, and did something meaningful. Those first days were amazing because we were only 10, and we were a group of people who understood each other, who knew how to communicate, and who fed each other. ”
After about 19 years, ServiceNow has grown fourfold since its simple inception. But one thing remained the same: our commitment to putting customers first.
“Our culture is that we’re going to be humble, that we’re going to have absolute integrity. We’re going to be confident but never arrogant. And we’re always going to listen to the customer,” Fred explains.
A community that cares
Her former assistant, Carla G., employee No. 8-or the “OG” as he refers to himself blazing his own path to ServiceNow. “When I first started working here, I was just female and Mexican. I was also part of a group of kids who built this company with a great companion” —a companion who keeps him at ServiceNow to this day. “It’s a community where we care a lot for each other, and I’m proud of it.”
“I’m looking back on my time at ServiceNow and, aside from career, I’ve met some of the most amazing people in my life,” added Mark O., employee No. 37. “I’m not just talking about co-workers- customers, partners from all over the world. I can’t believe the level of integrity, intelligence, and talent that has been exposed to me.”
Not to be forgotten by Wally M., employee No. 177, the advice he received on his first day at ServiceNow on April 26, 2010. “I tell new employees what I was told on my first day,‘ Hopefully this is the highlight of your career, and hopefully you get the everything you want in ServiceNow, ’cause that’s been the highlight of my career. ”
Listen to more from Fred and some previous employees as they reminisce about the great days, sharing their stories, aspirations, and pride for what ServiceNow has become today:
CEO Bill McDermott cannot be proud of the long -term impact of each of these people on ServiceNow. “The original founders of the company, starting with Fred, always had the customer as first, second, and third priority. That’s the passion, the diversity around not only delivers on promise, but is constantly evolving. I believe that their purpose will always be to endure. “
