Use technology to bring gender party to workplaces, female leaders say at TechGig panel discussion

NEW DELHI: Technology is an enabler – and the most efficient tool to bring gender equality into the workplace, said a united panel of female tech leaders in a virtual panel discussion conducted by TechGig.
“Women professionals – especially developers – must use it hard to grow their careers,” the panel added.
The topic of discussion was ‘#BreaktheBias: What women in tech want’.
The panel included female leaders from leading technology companies NetApp India, TCS, Thoughtworks, ServiceNow and Actu-Real Inc.
They talked about how female technologists bring a different – and sympathetic – perspective to the boardroom. They also stressed that having more women in the workforce is not an option but a business necessity.
Madhurima Agarwal, program directors-engineers at NetApp India highlighted how many women are now taking up STEM roles and are also gradually finding a place in the boardroom.
Another panelist, Anita K Manda, director- information technology at ServiceNow, spoke about the role of mentorship in the workplace. “Young women developers should look at the women leaders around them and follow their path,” she said.
To mark the celebration of International Women’s Day, TechGig started a women-only hiring hackathon hosted by NLB Services. This hackathon tests the Java, .NET proficiency of female developers and offers jobs and prizes (worth Rs 2,25,000) to top performers. It will end on April 11.
