Rajaraman further said the department through the Universal Service Obligation (USO) fund aims to expand mobile coverage in rural and remote areas, especially in aspirational districts.

The two-day event also witnessed numerous panel discussions including ‘Policy & Spectrum Roadmap for Making 5G Accessible, Affordable’, ‘5G: From Trials to Real-World Deployments’, ‘India’s Atmanirbhar Roadmap for Next Generation Technology,’ and ‘5G Device Ecosystem: A Key Ingredient of the 5G Success Story’.
The event also had participation from telecom equipment makers Ericsson, Nokia and Dell Technologies as well as technology companies Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMWare, Intel and ServiceNow, along with telecom carriers and infrastructure providers, among others.

Sanjay Malik, Head of India Market, Nokia said the company has evolved from importing equipment to an exporter for the world.
