Thycotic launches ServiceNow integration for privileged service accounts

Thycotic and ServiceNow have joined forces to form a joint integration, bringing Thycotic Account Lifecycle Manager into the ServiceNow IT management platform.

The integration is designed to address workflow approval, which is a common bottleneck for IT teams managing privileged service accounts.

Privileged service accounts connect applications, databases, root accounts and other IT systems. They share sensitive information and often automate key business processes without human supervision. The two companies stated that in the absence of supervision, privileged accounts are the main target of cyber attacks.

Thycotic’s account lifecycle manager is designed to ensure that every privileged service account is tied to an owner with the appropriate level of responsibility and supervision.

“The typical workflow for establishing or providing access to high-risk privileged service accounts usually requires second-level approval. Especially when remote workers or third-party contractors require privileged access, approval is essential for maintaining the safety oversight of internal team members Important, but should not interrupt work efficiency.”

The integrated solution between Thycotic and ServiceNow is able to receive customer requests, identify the correct response team and gradually trigger communication with existing workflows. The approver can see the request in ServiceNow’s system.

Jai Dargan, vice president of product management at Thycotic, said: “The IT operations team is working hard to go beyond the passive service desk approach and take on broader active management responsibilities.

“Privileged access management integration with ServiceNow can help IT ops teams work closely with other business and IT functions as a cohesive unit – rather than an isolated, uncoordinated part of the organization.”

The two companies stated that the Thycotic-ServiceNow integration also provides the ability to track the completion of approval vouchers and demonstrate compliance with IT service level agreements.

In the future, Thycotic will extend this integration to initiate service account requests directly in ServiceNow to further simplify the workflow.

Thycotic provides cloud-ready privilege management solutions for more than 10,000 organizations. The company is headquartered in the United States and has offices in the United Kingdom and Australia.

In the first quarter of 2020, the company reported 260 new customers and achieved a year-on-year increase of more than 180% in PAM cloud bookings.

James Legg, President and CEO of Thycotic, said: “Everyone who migrates to work remotely, and our reliable method of trying to thwart privileged account attacks, while allowing CISOs easy access to the functions needed to protect their Cyber risks are all important.”.

“Our team looks forward to continuing our work and development momentum in 2020, because we will all face a common enemy together.”
