New research, partnership announcements and trends have been news in the changing industry this month. A new report from Accenture shows that the Metaverse Continuum, a spectrum of digitally enhanced worlds, realities and business models, is redefining how the world works, operates and interacts. Research shows that businesses are racing toward a future very different from where they were designed to operate because technologies, such as augmented reality, blockchain, digital twins and edge computing, are coming together to re shape human experiences. On the heels of this report, OneRare, the world’s first food metaverse (perhaps better known as Foodverse) announced its official launch in the US market. OneRare will connect food brands, chefs and restaurants to create virtual experiences and interactions around the world.

Although there is so much potential on the horizon, there are hurdles. New research from Pegasystems shows that operations leaders believe that insufficient investment in technology can hamper organizations ’ability to manage the periods of significant change that await.

Headlines also include news of key partnerships driving digital transformation. Monday.com and KPMG announced a strategic alliance to empower businesses to drive digital innovation, improve organizational agility and increase operational efficiency and productivity. Other select tech partners include Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Workday.Intraway has announced the expansion of its no-code, cloud-native OSS solution into the North American market to drive telco digital transformation for top-tier communications service provider. Eutelsat and OneWeb are partnering to commercialize connectivity services across key verticals including maritime, aviation, enterprise, telcos, and government. In addition, Google Cloud and BT announced a partnership to accelerate BT’s company-wide digital transformation, including cloud infrastructure, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, security, and management of the API.

Moving beyond digital transformation into the broader universe of innovation, ABI Research has named the leaders in its Sustainability Index Telco Operators. Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, Vodafone, and KPN were ranked as leaders.

Qualcomm, BMW and Arriver Software have announced cooperation for the development of next-generation driving technologies. 8×8 launched the 8×8 Agent Workspace to change the role of the contact center agent. 8×8 Agent Workspace is a fully browser-based, design-led interface that combines contact center and unified communication capabilities into one application.

Verizon released the findings of a new survey of people who moved home during the pandemic. The Verizon Movers Study shows more than half of movers want to live in an area with better infrastructure for fast, reliable homes and cellular Internet.
