HoustonCIO announced the winners of its 2022 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Awards. HoustonCIO identified chief information officers in seven main categories – Leadership, Super Global, Global, Large Enterprise, Enterprise, Corporate, and Nonprofit/Public Sector. The Awards were presented at the Houston CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards at the Marriott Marquis Houston.
“Every organization relies on technology, but strong leadership is the X-factor that drives change, motivates teams and the strategic diversity for success,” said Kristy Simonette, HoustonCIO Chair. “The ORBIE Awards are meaningful because they are judged by peers – CIOs who understand the challenges of technology leadership.”
The 2022 HoustonCIO ORBIE Award winners are:
- Al Lindseth, SVP, Technology, Process and Risk Management Plains All American Pipeline (fmr) received the ORBIE Leadership.
- Tom Peck, EVP, CIO, and CDO, Sysco received the Super Global ORBIE for organizations over $ 20 billion in annual revenue and multi-national operations.
- Vagesh Dave, Global VP and CIO, McDermott received the Global ORBIE for organizations over $ 1 billion in annual revenue and multi-national operations.
- Anthony Dayao, CIO, Motiva Enterprises received the Large Enterprise ORBIE for organizations over $ 3 billion in annual revenue.
- Ken Piddington, VP & CIO, US Silica received Enterprise ORBIE for organizations with over $ 500 million in annual revenue.
- Rennu Varghese, VP & CIO, Friedkin Group has received Corporate ORBIE for organizations up to $ 500 million in annual revenue.
- Amanda Hammel, SVP and CIO, Memorial Hermann Health System received the Nonprofit/Public Sector ORBIE for health care, education, and public sector organizations with over $ 500 million in annual revenue.
The CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards is the leading technology executive recognition program in the United States. Since its inception in 1998, more than 500 CIO of the Year winners have received the prestigious ORBIE Award. ORBIE honors chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership. Finalists and winners are selected through an independent peer review process, led by previous ORBIE recipients, based on:
- The effectiveness of leadership and management
- Business value created by change in technology
- Industry engagement and community efforts
The HoustonCIO ORBIE Awards keynote was delivered by Jed Yueh, Founder and CEO of Delphix. Nearly 450 guests attended, representing Houston’s leading organizations and their technology partners.
