In today’s fast -paced market, where requirements are constantly changing due to the digitalization of channels and operational processes, there is a need for both innovative solutions and highly structured approaches to the evaluation, delivery and operation of this solution.
Many large organizations have already adopted Enterprise Architecture (EA) skills to document and plan their business, technology and management strategies and processes.
However, the benefits of such practices have long been recognized and used by many other small organizations because of the capabilities gained in scalability, planning, long -term cost effectiveness and the ability to facilitate an organization in implementing procedures. and Agile skills throughout the organization. .
EA has promised a lot throughout the year; however, many organizations face issues in its application due to lack of a holistic management of the IT landscape and improper process/service scope.
An EA framework should be focused around the alignment of IT with business strategy. These include business architecture, application architecture, data and integration architecture, technology architecture, and security architecture.
EA, like many other methods, adheres to certain standards and best practices, and in conjunction with proper expertise can drastically change the long-term potential of a business’s service quality and ability to manage the total cost of ownership. ownership (TCO) and IT efficiency regardless of the size of the organization.
Creating the right processes and defining architectural standards for implementation may not be enough. This is because it must be closely integrated with the skills and tools used for business management and technological services.
Our approach focuses on cultural change skills, competencies and management
Organizations are faced with a rapidly changing technology environment and a strategic alignment in business strategy will be a diversification for establishing a competitive advantage, cost effectiveness and agility in providing business services. .
IT service management (ITSM) is one of the areas that often benefits from well -implemented EA practices and technological management framework. There are several standards or best practices on how to manage the entire life cycle of these services, however, the most popular is the IT Infrastructure Library, or as more commonly known as ITIL. OpenGroup has also developed a similar framework called IT4IT.
The importance of these guidelines is that through cumulative years of experience, they help organizations restructure their current service operations to be more efficient and cost-effective, or in designing and implementing services. new line of service with a strategy of avoiding as many mistakes as possible early in the project stage, which would otherwise be more costly later on.
Moreover, they are laying a solid foundation for the implementation of self-service and automation capabilities, which today have to go beyond the traditional on-premises environment to a diverse cloud environment.
The adoption of EA and ITSM has led to many vendors providing tooling solutions that include cloud management, configuration management, ticketing and IT asset management, among other capabilities.
Vendors such as ServiceNow, which has become synonymous with a broad portfolio of capabilities, help organizations have consistency in managing and operating its services, but also help allow cost-effective and virtually no broken scalability in its operational service lines. Even Microsoft has expanded their service management capabilities to now offer a multi-cloud control plane because organizations typically aspire to a hybrid-multi-cloud environment.
EY supports organizations in applying these skills and the deployment of supporting processes and tools that facilitate strategic alignment, digitalization of IT processes, self-service capability and automation.
Our approach is centered on bringing in best practices and applying a pragmatic approach in line with size, maturity level and organizational capabilities. This has been critical in the journey of digitalization from small to very large organizations.
Furthermore, our human-centered approach focuses on the skills, competencies and management of cultural change that are essential to the successful adoption of these skills.
