Jada Pinkett Smith is ready to share her life story.
The Red Table Talks The host and actress, 51, will publish her yet-to-be-titled memoir with Dey Street Books, an imprint of the William MorrowGroup at HarperCollins Publishers, in fall 2023, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.
In the book, Smith “narrates the lessons learned in the course of a difficult but terrifying journey – a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of true female power,” according to a press release.
“Without holding back, Jada reveals her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore – from the daughter of two drug addicts to a promising theater student and a violent interlude as a small-time drug dealer – followed by a parallel rise to stardom alongside her close friend 2Pac, after falling in love with and marrying Will Smith, and a joyful embrace of motherhood.”
The press release added that the Women’s Trip the star revealed how she was “in crisis at 40” and “recounted the painful choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way.”
“At the center of this powerful book,” the description reveals, “are two unexpected love stories, one of Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, the other of her own.”

Carrie Thornton, the Dey Street Books VP and editorial director who brokered the book deal with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), said in a statement, “The world has imposed many labels and narratives on Jada Pinkett Smith . It depends on the realities of our media landscape, but also the roles that culture pushes on women.”
“Amidst all the speculation and false stories is a woman who, like so many women, has to adapt her persona to the needs of those she loves. This memoir is Jada giving the world her truth , takes readers on a journey from lost girl to female warrior,” added Thornton. “I was so honored to make that journey with him.”
Smith’s husband Will, 54, published his own bestselling memoir titled Will in November 2021, written with Mark Manson.
