ServiceNow expands from ITSM and SecOps to HR software

ServiceNow

ServiceNow released Rome today, which is the latest upgrade to the company’s Now platform. Known for its IT service management (ITSM) and security operations (SecOps) platforms, the new ServiceNow version pushes the company into a deeper field of human resources software—and potential competition with SaaS software provider Workday.

The release of ServiceNow also strengthened the company’s relationship with Microsoft.

ServiceNow Rome: Human Resources Software Function

Notable developments include:

  • The company said that the new ServiceNow employee center portal allows team members to “easily request the services they need.” The two companies said the portal will also integrate ServiceNow workflows and Microsoft teams.
  • In addition, the employee journey management function provides a personalized workflow to help employees with “immediate tasks, learning and listening.”

Although ServiceNow usually focuses on enterprise-type accounts, the software has become a common management service platform for mid-market MSPs.

Major ServiceNow partners in the IT consulting and MSP fields include Thrive, Fully Managed, and Wipro. The two companies stated that NTT Data uses ServiceNow and Microsoft Teams as a comprehensive experience.

HR software for SMB market MSP

Kam Kaila, Partner and President of IT By Design

At the same time, ServiceNow has not made much effort to enter the SMB field-allowing software companies focused on MSP to fill in various market gaps.

An example: IT By Design, a provider of talent, service desk, and NOC (Network Operations Center), is developing Team GPS, a cloud-based application designed to help MSP employees in their careers. Features that need attention include: team GPS to help MSP manage their employees; job performance and satisfaction; workforce culture; IT By Design president Kam Kaila said, and overall business planning.

Kaila described Team GPS software development during the Build IT Live 2021 conference in August 2021. The IT By Design software is still under development, and various modules are expected to be gradually released in the next few months.

At the same time, the Roman version of ServiceNow is available immediately.
