According to the agreement announced by ServiceNow on Wednesday, the workflow software company ServiceNow will acquire the French indoor map and wayfinding software developer Mapwize.
ServiceNow plans to build the capabilities of the Mapwize application into its flagship digital workflow Now Platform and Workplace Service Delivery Suite to help companies and organizations adopting mixed work practices.
“In the new world of mixed work, the role of workplace services in creating a great employee experience has never been more important,” said Blake McConnell, senior vice president of employee workflow at ServiceNow, in a statement. “With Mapwize, ServiceNow will make it easier for people to navigate the work environment and access the workspace information and workplace services needed to maintain productivity, thereby driving the future of the employee experience.”

ServiceNow stated that it expects to complete the acquisition of Mapwize sometime in the current (third) quarter of 2021. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
According to ServiceNow’s acquisition announcement, Mapwize has developed an “indoor map” application for employees to use to navigate the office and book conference rooms, seats, work areas, and other workplace resources. The Mapwize feature also helps workplace teams “manage and update workplace floor plans based on usage trends and evolving real estate trends.”
The acquisition of Mapwize is the latest move that ServiceNow has acquired this year, including robotic process automation software developer Intellibot and system observability technology provider Lightstep.
Headquartered in Lille, France, Mapwize was founded in 2014 by CEO Mederic Morel and CTO Mathieu Gerard.
The acquisition of Mapwize and its applications is particularly timely, as many businesses and organizations adopt mixed office/work-from-home practices. According to ServiceNow, these applications run on laptops and mobile devices and are designed to “support agile and flexible workplaces.”
ServiceNow stated that Mapwize’s “mapping solutions, product features and technical talents will complement and enhance” the functions of the ServiceNow workplace service delivery suite, including workplace space mapping, workplace reservation management, workplace space management, workplace visitor management, and Case and knowledge management applications and safe workplace suites.
“Through ServiceNow, we have a unique opportunity to expand our technology to help global organizations navigate a mixed work environment,” Morrel said in a statement. “Our technology combined with Now Platform and Workplace Service Delivery Suite will eliminate the pressure and time of navigating in the workplace, enabling employees to remain agile and efficient in any environment and on any device.”
