ServiceNow acquired Swarm64, a database performance company, to enhance its ability to extend digital workflows.
Swarm64 in Berlin will provide ServiceNow with a database model that combines analytical and transactional database capabilities. ServiceNow said it will be able to validate its Now platform in the future with the help of Swarm64, because customers will be able to query data sources faster.
Swarm64 has three core products supporting Swarm64 database accelerator, PG Nitrous, PostgreSQL cloud database, and PostgreSQL performance engineering support. Pricing ranges from free to monthly fees, and is also charged monthly at the core. ServiceNow acquired a series of companies in 2021.
Joe Davis, senior vice president of platform engineering at ServiceNow, said in a blog post that as the company transforms operations, customers have seen explosive growth in data volumes. Swarm64’s hybrid database eliminates the need for enterprises to process large amounts of data transactions and then layer analysis and models on top of them.
The acquisition also provides ServiceNow with a greater foothold in the open source field. Swarm64 was founded in 2013 to accelerate PostgreSQL workload and performance. ServiceNow has also strengthened its engineering team with Swarm64.
According to ServiceNow, the acquisition will be completed in the third quarter. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
