ServiceNow and EXFO have teamed up to develop a combined solution that provides service providers with end-to-end network visibility while also automating service assurance.
EXFO, a testing, monitoring and analysis provider, has joined the ServiceNow partner program to integrate its NOVA Context solution into ServiceNow’s database, which stores information from communications service providers (CSP) services.
Claudio Mazzuca, EXFO’s vice president of strategic partnerships and alliances, said: “We have encountered ServiceNow in many accounts, and we have provided insights in it, such as the way the network and services are built.” We have indeed added a lot of value in the way customers view services and service guarantees. We are very excited about cooperation and we see value through some of our accounts today.
“We will continue to work with the ServiceNow team to handle more accounts, and we have seen a lot of value in this combination.”
The combined platform enables CSP to adjust and integrate its various data systems, optimize its data accuracy, and build relationships between network services and users to improve automation and provide a better customer experience.
By providing a “single source of truth” with dynamic topology and joint inventory, EXFO and ServiceNow can provide service providers with seamless visibility and data integrity across multi-domain, multi-technology, and multi-vendor networks and systems.
NOVA Context can be quickly deployed and easily configured to help operators unify and automate their data systems within a few weeks. EXFO claims that NOVA Context has increased the data accuracy of Tier 1 communication service providers to more than 98%, and has helped increase the automation efficiency from 50% to 60% success rate to more than 90% of the US deployment
EXFO’s NOVA Context aggregates data from multiple data sources in the service provider network, including the inventory system and element management system located directly at the node itself.
Mazzuca said: “Its role is to integrate these multiple sources to provide a real-time and accurate view of the interrelationships between physical, virtual and logical elements.” “By doing so, we provide this topology in an accurate way. View, and then integrate it into the ServiceNow system to provide service awareness in terms of end-to-end service construction.”
By combining NOVA Context with ServiceNow’s service-aware CMDB database and automation capabilities, service providers have increased visibility in their digital transformation. The digital transformation journey of service providers includes breaking down traditional service islands so that network resources can be used where they are most needed at a given time. This is where virtualization comes in.
Chris Bauschka, general manager of ServiceNow’s telecom media and technology business, said that telecommunications companies, cable operators, and mobile providers can use integrated products across traditional, hybrid, and virtualized networks.
“From a ServiceNow perspective, we also support virtual, logical and physical resources in terms of representing networks,” Bauschka said. “This applies to traditional networks and next-generation networks such as SDN and 5G. The challenge of virtualized networks is to keep network information up-to-date, because virtualization functions are constantly changing in real time. This is where the cooperation with EXFO is so good.
“EXFO can poll the network to obtain real-time network and topology views (including virtualization features) stored in ServiceNow. ServiceNow then uses this network topology when an outage occurs to facilitate outage resolution and manage customer communications through our service. Service Assurance work process.”
