Pledge to support the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius; ServiceNow will also donate US$1 million to non-profit organizations focused on decarbonization
Santa Clara, California–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), a leading digital workflow company, today announced its global commitment to net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions By 2030, further advance its vision of “Working Processes Create a Better World”-a more sustainable, fairer and more ethical world.
ServiceNow previously set a goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.After a third-party evaluation1 Completed by Watershed in July 2021 and assessed the company’s entire corporate carbon footprint, ServiceNow determined that 93% of its carbon footprint came directly from emissions in its value chain (Scope 3). By setting science-based targets focused on internal emission reduction plans and supplier participation plans, ServiceNow has set a timetable 20 years ahead of the Paris Agreement and set an ambitious goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 The goal. In the next few weeks, ServiceNow will submit its targets for approval to the Science Targets Program (SBTi), which aims to define and promote best practices for science-based target setting and to independently evaluate the company’s emission reduction targets .
With this science-based commitment, ServiceNow joined the “1.5°C Commercial Ambitions” global net zero emissions campaign initiated by SBTi in cooperation with the United Nations Global Compact and the We Mean Business Alliance, and cooperated with the United Nations to take ambitious climate action agencies, Business and industry leaders.

ServiceNow’s latest commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions builds on the commitments made in early 2021. ServiceNow will continue to report progress in its annual global impact report.
ServiceNow will further commit to achieving its net zero goal across its entire value chain by 2030:
- Set ambitious targets in direct operations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2). This is consistent with the science-based goals advocated by SBTi and is considered necessary to achieve the Paris Agreement’s extended goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
- Decarbonize the supply chain (Scope 3). ServiceNow will begin to work with and support its Suppliers carry out a journey of sustainability through a comprehensive supplier participation model, which will be launched next year. ServiceNow will embed a sustainability plan in its data center plan, such as supporting the data center operations team to become a certified data center sustainability expert (CDCSP)®). Obtaining this certification ensures that ServiceNow operators understand the steps required to support the long-term sustainability of the company’s data center.
- In the initial cooperation with Everland, a combination method was used to finance high-quality carbon offsets (proven emission reductions). Everland represents the world’s largest portfolio of high-impact forest protection (REDD+) projects that protect wildlife and improve the well-being of forest communities, which are critical to addressing climate change and biodiversity crises. ServiceNow will support the Mai Ndombe REDD+ project, which protects 740,000 acres of important bonobo and forest elephant habitat in the Congo Basin.
As part of ServiceNow’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the planet, ServiceNow will donate US$1 million to non-profit organizations focused on tackling climate change and accelerating global decarbonization over the next two years.
