ABB was honored with the EIC Award for Excellence in Enterprise IAM

KuppingerCole Analysts Recognize ABB for Security, Compliance, and Productivity Improvements through ServiceNow and Clear Skye Identification Initiatives

Clear Skye® Inc today announced that its customer ABB, a world leader in EV billing solutions, has won the European Identity and Cloud (EIC) Award in the Enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) category. The award program honors companies that launched outstanding digital identity and cybersecurity projects last year. The winners were announced live at the EIC Conference on May 11 in Berlin, Germany.

For the 14th time, a panel of KuppingerCole analysts reviewed and awarded the best project. Some categories have more than one winner, highlighting the exceptional quality of the projects nominated this year. “Our winners have successfully coped with the challenges posed by the pandemic and the rapid rise of digitization it has caused,” said Martin Kuppinger, Principal Analyst at KuppingerCole.

ABB was honored for its Global IAM initiative, which was established to improve security, compliance, and operations, and to ensure that access management is properly managed. But with operations in over 100 countries, 180,000 employees, 13,000 servers, 6,500 applications, hundreds of HR systems, and a complex implementation of Active Directory, it’s not easy to do.

By using its former ITSM provider ServiceNow, ABB will avoid the complexities of implementing the new IAM solution with its large user base. Instead, the company chose to partner with Clear Skye, the only identity management and security solution built natively on the Now Platform. In doing so, ABB is able to maximize current investment in technology, eliminate the use of multiple tools, applications, and siled approaches to identity, while enabling an easy, familiar user experience for employees.

“As a Fortune Global 500 multinational company, the challenge of streamlining IAM without extensive technology overhaul or disruption to our employees and business is daunting,” said Stefan Lindner, Global IS IAM/UAM Lead, ABB. “With ServiceNow and Clear Skye, we have avoided this, aligning once locally managed systems across the business into one platform for a more strategic approach to IAM. We are honored that KuppingerCole recognizes us for this effort.”
