Accenture continues Canadian tech acquisition spree with Solvera Solutions, Eclipse Automation

Accenture has acquired six companies in Canada since 2020.

Global tech provider and consulting giant Accenture continues its acquisition of Canadian tech companies with the recent addition of Solvera Solutions and an agreement to acquire Eclipse Automation.

Accenture announced Monday that it has acquired Regina-based Solvera for an undisclosed amount.

“Joining Accenture allows us to offer clients a broader range of resources and expertise through Accenture’s network of professionals.”
– Reg Robinson, CEO and co-founder at Solvera Solutions

Founded in 2005, Solvera’s team of more than 450 provides consulting and services on ServiceNow, Microsoft, and SAP platforms. Solvera works with clients in the public sector, health, financial services, utilities and energy, and agriculture industries.

In 2020, Solvera acquired Winnipeg-based Apptius Application Development, which provides custom software development on the Microsoft platform.

Accenture noted that Solvera will be a “catalyst” for Accenture’s continued growth in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

“The rate of digital adoption has accelerated in recent years and we are committed to staying at the forefront of service delivery,” said Reg Robinson, CEO and co-founder at Solvera Solutions. “Joining Accenture allows us to offer clients a broader range of resources and expertise through Accenture’s network of professionals across Canada and around the world.”

Solvera marks Accenture’s sixth acquisition in Canada since 2020, joining XtremeEDA, Gevity, Cloudworks, Avenai, and Callisto Integration. In 2019, Accenture also acquired Toronto-based Zafin.

With the closing of its acquisition deal, Eclipse will represent Accenture’s seventh acquired company in Canada. Accenture announced its intention to acquire Eclipse Automation on July 21.

Headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario, Eclipse provides automated manufacturing systems for companies in the life sciences, industrial equipment, automotive, energy, and consumer goods sectors. Its solutions include automation control systems, production machines, and robots, with customized tooling made in-house.

Eclipse was founded in 2001. In addition to its main office in Canada, it is located in the United States, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, and Malaysia.

Eclipse previously received approximately $1.4 million from the Ontario Together Fund to scale its operations to produce made-in-Ontario N95 masks.

According to Accenture, 800 Eclipse employees will join Accenture’s digital engineering and manufacturing service, Industry X.

“With Eclipse Automation, we will combine advanced automation capabilities with our deep digital expertise,” said Aaron Saint, the North American leader for Industry X.

Accenture emphasized that its acquisition of Eclipse will be the next milestone in expanding its digital engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

In 2020, Accenture purchased Myrtle Consulting, a consultancy for strategic advisory in industrial operations, as well as Callisto Integration, which provides manufacturing execution and shop-floor control systems.
