Apple has identified and is launching a fix for a bug that repeatedly prevented third-party apps from syncing to iCloud (via 9to5Mac). In response to a developer on Apple’s community forum, Apple said it “investigated this issue in the CloudKit backend, and implemented a fix.”
The company still hasn’t exactly specified what went wrong-it said the errors “look like request throttling that could affect a particular user, or the container as a whole,” and is unlikely to blame “an underlying issue “for causing widespread sync problems.
As 9to5Mac report, developers have been dealing with this issue since November, which Apple has not publicly acknowledged until now. Developers have noticed that their users receive “HTTP status code 503 request failed,” which largely results in bad looks for developers (with no consequences for Apple). At that time, 9to5Mac also said that some developers have contacted Apple individually and said the issue is related to CloudKit.
