Atos and OVHcloud team up to launch a European multi-cloud solution

Atos

Atos and OVHcloud just announced in a press release that they have signed a “strategic partnership” aimed at creating a “100% European cutting-edge multi-cloud solution.” The two companies said that by combining their capabilities, they can access the network of 130 data centers around the world, 30 of which belong to Roubaix, according to their website.

Join the Atos OneCloud platform
This multi-cloud solution is based on Atos OneCloud, a one-stop shop in the form of a platform that brings together about ten products carefully designed according to customer needs. The French group recently announced that it will invest 2 billion euros in the platform within 5 years. The platform is developed in cooperation with companies such as Amazon Web Services, Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, IBM, Microsoft Azure, SAP, ServiceNow, and Salesforce.

As far as OVHcloud is concerned, it provides many solutions based on “sovereign infrastructure”, which is vital information, because the goal of the two companies is to create a cloud environment that respects data as much as possible. Therefore, “customers will have complete control over their data and applications, whether stored in public, private, or hybrid clouds,” the two companies promised in a press release.

Numerous security and sovereignty labels
It should also be noted that Atos and OVHcloud are founding members of Gaia-X. Gaia-X is a European cloud project whose goal is to establish common standards on which companies can increase their value proposition. On the other hand, Roubaix’s “hosted private cloud” private cloud solution has just obtained the “SecNumCloud” certification from the National Information System Security Agency (Anssi).

According to the two companies, this combination of security labels is a guarantee of confidence that public and private organizations that want to control their data may be of interest. This is also a way to compete with the industry giants Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, which, as Americans, are bound by the Cloud Act. The text strengthens the powers of American intelligence agencies by facilitating access to data stored in data centers belonging to American, European, or French companies by American intelligence agencies.

Recently signed a climate neutral data center agreement, the two companies also pledged to regularly provide carbon emissions associated with this new multi-cloud solution, with a view to achieving carbon neutrality in the short term.
