CIOs spend more time on innovation than ever before

However, despite increasing efforts less than a third describe change as part of the company culture

London on January 26, 2022: CIOs spend more time on innovation, with three quarters stating they have increased innovation efforts, according to the 2021 Global CIO Survey from Logicalis, a global provider of IT solutions. The study, which asked 1,000 CIOs from around the world, found that despite a strong focus on change, only 27% of CIOs describe change as part of their company’s culture.

The research also revealed that 21% of respondents admitted that change was confined to specific areas and departments. An additional thirty -four percent of CIO respondents also say innovation consists of large projects driven by dedicated teams. The results suggest the lack of innovation embedded in the company culture and the organization’s willingness to evolve and adopt modern technologies.

The reluctance to extend innovation throughout the business and encourage new ideas affects the ability of businesses to keep up with the broader market and competitors. Businesses must emphasize a culture of change or risk that does not support changing customer demands and loss of key employees as the XYZ generation workforce demands digitally focused working practices that match their expectations for experience. of the user.

Nearly 80% of survey respondents believe that their organization is already falling behind competitors due to the speed of changing processes. In particular, CIOs say they find it difficult to keep up with increasing efficiency (38%), streamlining workflows (37%) and improving services (36%).

Expanding an innovative culture to a sprawling workforce is more difficult than scaling up employees working under one roof. Robust, digital communication solutions enable a hybrid workforce to connect remotely to build an innovative culture. An updated approach to innovation and company-wide collaboration will allow businesses to improve productivity and gain a good competition.

Toby Alcock, CTO of Logicalis: “Businesses don’t have to approach innovation with an‘ all-in ’approach. It can start with optimizing operational processes such as empowering employees to build their own workflows or automating a process previously manually. The key to success is building an innovative culture where employees can come out and try new ideas quickly and provide the time, tools and process for them to do so.

“In doing so, employees will come up with innovative ideas and solutions and in turn, will feel satisfaction within their roles and employee turnover will decrease. If these steps are not taken, businesses risk losing top talent to more advanced competitors. “
