The health crisis has accelerated the global adoption of hybrid cloud, and its model has played a key role in the company’s digital transformation.

Covid-19 has accelerated the transition of more and more Spanish companies to the cloud. In business transformation, hybrid cloud has become the dominant solution at the moment, and its model lies between the private data center of an enterprise and the public cloud of cloud giants such as Amazon. This option allows workloads to be distributed in different environments, and is a lever for innovation and even sustainability, as expressed in the Hybrid Cloud: 4 Successful Partner Conference, organized by EXPANIN, by Amazon Web Services (AWS), DXC Sponsor Technology, ServiceNow and VMware.

“The pandemic highlights the real advantages of cloud in terms of flexibility and agility. In this context of change and uncertainty, permanent innovation is the only competitive advantage,” said Miguel Lava, general manager of Iberia AWS. Amazon plans to open a new infrastructure area in Aragon in mid-2022. The project will invest 2.5 billion euros and create 1,300 jobs. Lava emphasized, “The idea is that the data center and the availability zone are as close as possible: This will allow the entire Spanish digital environment to benefit from local data residency and lower latency.”

Adaptation protein

Juan Parra, general manager of Iberia DXC Technology, stated that under the current circumstances, “companies that can respond to cultural and technological changes and understand technological competitiveness will lead their respective markets.” The company is recognized as having the greatest customer satisfaction in Spain. Of technical service providers, committed to “be close to customers to understand their challenges and needs, have the knowledge to help them and maintain a very flexible relationship with them”.

Similarly, “the adaptability of the market and the company has always been the key so that they can continue to provide all services and make a living,” explains Antonio Abern, Country Manager of ServiceNow Iberia. As far as the company is concerned, Abelln emphasized that “we always accompany our customers and provide them with business intelligence, so that they are not forced into automated processes, but can manage and manage them.”

At the same time, the adoption of a hybrid cloud strategy is compatible with active sustainability policies and can even establish links with it. VMware Iberia CEO Mara Jos Talavera emphasized: “Technology and virtualization allow hyperscalers to provide these services, which has a series of positive side effects, such as reducing carbon emissions.” He also added that VMware is “the first company. The company that put forward the concept of hybrid cloud”.

From the perspective of the enterprise itself, FCC’s CIO Alfredo Garca Lpez said, “The cloud is an element of digital transformation. From the technical field, we try to develop a hybrid platform that is as unique as possible, standardized, managed and secure.” Although the FCC already has private infrastructure, it decided to create a cloud competency center: “We have to make key decisions in the architecture, choose hybrid cloud, and operations and security.”

alliance

As a result, these four leading companies in their respective fields—AWS, DXC, ServiceNow, and VMware—have joined forces to promote adoption. Jorge Pestaa, Director of Cloud Services at DXC Technology, said: “Good governance of hybrid cloud refers to the new generation of tools and processes that need to be designed for and from the cloud, as well as differentiated technologies and professionals.” Regarding the main difficulties of migration, Pestaa said, “ The loads are interrelated and have different technologies and network elements.”

“Ultimately, all technical workloads will end in the cloud,” said Carlos Cars, head of technology and architecture at AWS in Iberia. However, he clarified, “This is a process that takes time, and companies need to go through a transition to adopt these solutions. Therefore, hybrid solutions are very popular.”

For his part, Sergio Oropeza, VMware’s pre-sales director at Iberia, asserted that “applications are the blood system of any business: it brings profit, allows value-added services to be provided, dominates operations and brings employees closer to customers.” Similarly, he emphasized the relationship with AWS The alliance allows us to provide companies with new solutions that are very easy to integrate.

Jos Ramn Daz Garca, Sales Manager of IT Transformation Solutions at ServiceNow, emphasized that the company’s proposal focuses on processes and their governance. Therefore, he emphasized that “we propose end-to-end process management and comprehensive governance to provide solutions that connect the operation and service world. Even if the system and load change, maintaining service levels is the key to get together with customers.”
