Big Four firm EY has announced that it plans to take a headcount in Manchester from 800 to 2,000 over the next four years, with a focus on tech roles.

With the secure investment, the network of professional services, whose city base is at 2 St Peter’s Square, is set to more than double the size in Manchester by 2026 with 1,200 employees.

It stated that its recruitment plans will revolve around technology, innovation, and strategy roles. New entrants will expand its capabilities to specialties such as Microsoft, ServiceNow, cloud, data analytics, and cyber.

Stephen Church, EY’s Manchester Managing Partner and North Markets Leader, said: “When it comes to recruiting tech talent, Manchester is a very attractive location to expand our consulting practice in the UK.

“I am delighted that we have secured additional investment to expand our business in the city, serving a vibrant market recognized as the fastest growing digital and tech hub in Europe.

“As well as focusing on strengthening our own growth plans, we recognize the role we play in training future business leaders, who will undoubtedly require enhanced innovation and technology skills throughout their careers, to help their businesses keep pace with change, which in turn will help them make a greater impact in the local market. ”
