UST launched its first Innovation Lab in Australia at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Connect.
The lab (the company’s eighth worldwide) will allow the UST team to collaborate with a community of researchers and innovators from different backgrounds and deliver better results for its customers. It will create 250 jobs in Victoria.
The facility was officially launched by Treasurer and Minister for Economic Development, Victoria State Government, Tim Pallas.
“We are delighted that UST is setting up in Melbourne — it’s another win for our emerging technology sector and for jobs.
“Global digital tech companies are coming to Victoria because we have the skilled workforce, the education and training infrastructure and the business environment they need to succeed,” Pallas said.
UST intends to establish its Innovation Lab at the University of Melbourne’s innovation precinct, Melbourne Connect, to leverage the community created through the co-location of industry, research and startups.
“The University of Melbourne is delighted to welcome UST to Melbourne Connect, one of Australia’s leading innovation precincts,” said Duncan Maskell, Vice-Chancellor, University of Melbourne.
“Melbourne Connect is a place that brings together the expertise of University, industry and government to unlock new, creative research solutions to some of society’s biggest challenges. The addition of UST to Melbourne Connect will further enhance the city’s reputation as an international leader of research and innovation.”
As part of its commitment and investment in Victoria, UST established its ANZ headquarters in Melbourne.
“We have identified Australia as a growth region, so we are investing significantly by establishing Melbourne as our regional headquarters and bringing in additional senior consultants and general technical expertise to ensure we have the local capabilities to required,” said Matthew McCormack, Managing Director – Australia and New Zealand, UST.
“With this increased investment, we can better demonstrate UST’s approach to solving business challenges. Known as Insights to Value, the approach uses human research and AI to generate insights and inform decision-making, revealing opportunities for growth and driving innovation to realize business value.”
