Puppet announces new integration with ServiceNow

The importance of operating across hybrid infrastructures with accurate and correct real-time information is critical

New integration enables customers to accelerate DevOps at scale through visibility into IT assets and self-service automation

Portland, Oregon, October 5, 2021-Puppet, the industry standard for infrastructure automation, announced at Puppetize Digital 2021 as a member of the ServiceNow Partner Program, and it has also joined the ServiceNow® Service Graph Connector by integrating its flagship products Plan, Puppet Enterprise, with service map. The service graph connector for Puppet integration helps ServiceNow customers quickly, easily, and reliably extract relevant and accurate data from Puppet-managed assets into ServiceNow’s CMDB to make informed decisions in hybrid infrastructure.

Jim Mercer, IDC’s DevOps and DevSecOps Research Director, said: “DevOps and accelerated application delivery play a key role in any company’s digital acceleration. Self-service automation and deeper integration in the DevOps tool chain are the basis for adopting DevOps practices. In addition, automation facilitates the integration of security or DevSecOps and helps reduce manual switching between DevOps and security teams.”

Connectors validated by ServiceNow’s Service Graph Connector Program integrate the expertise of the ServiceNow partner ecosystem into Service Graph. The service graph connector for Puppet enables customers to:
● Receive the latest insights across hybrid infrastructures and make proactive and wise decisions with trusted and relevant data.
● Reduce operational friction and eliminate manual data ingestion through automated data collection and reporting.
● Accelerate changes and eliminate common bottlenecks associated with deployment activities through better visibility, ingestion, and automation-based various data sets.
● Through asset management to reduce risks, maintain compliance and ensure health audits.

“The importance of using accurate and correct real-time information to operate across hybrid infrastructures is critical to speeding up releases and IT project resilience. Mismapping of configuration items or inaccurate data will only lead to more complexity and sometimes economic Loss,” said Molly Erdle, Puppet product manager. “This new integration provides a complete view of IT assets across the hybrid infrastructure, so teams can simplify decision-making without manual switching to ensure cost control, compliance, and audibility are met and risks are avoided.”

Earlier this year, Puppet released Puppet Spoke, an operational engine that can be used to build self-service workflows through ServiceNow IntegrationHub. The ServiceNow team can use Puppet Spoke to combine rich CMDB data to build, test, and deploy new features faster. The integration allows ServiceNow customers to directly access the automation capabilities of the Puppet engine. Those using the ServiceNow platform can take advantage of a wide range of operations supported by Puppet, from restarting services to patching machines directly in the ServiceNow platform.

The integration is now certified in the ServiceNow store.

Jaime Segura, Puppet’s vice president of global business development and alliances, said: “Puppet leverages the power of the entire ecosystem through integration and cooperation to build more comprehensive solutions for customers who need to expand their automation needs. “We are looking to continue to work with critical cloud and DevOps Vendor collaboration gives I&O teams the flexibility to integrate with products that exist in their extended and dynamic IT environment, as well as the portability and interoperability they want and need. “

ServiceNow Service Graph is a next-generation digital product and service record system that enables the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to grow beyond the scope of inventory and asset management. By using ServiceNow Service Graph, IT organizations can obtain a broad and in-depth data foundation to manage the entire life cycle of digital products and services. Service Graph is the foundation of all ServiceNow products, allowing customers to combine technology, people, and processes into a service-oriented view. This interconnected approach enables customers to use their existing CMDB investments to rationalize investment portfolios, automate development and cloud operations, manage risks, and understand the return on investment to drive high-value business results.

Jeff Hausman, Senior Vice President of ServiceNow and General Manager of IT Workflow Operations Management, said: “ServiceNow leads the future of work by creating great experiences for enterprises. “We are very pleased that Puppet has integrated its Service Graph Connector for Puppet to help further Improve satisfaction, build trust, accelerate value realization, and reduce the risk of our mutual customers. “
