Full-time remote

After receiving a baby boy into their family, Commission Manager Rohit S. and her husband sought child care. Finding a nanny despite the COVID-19 pandemic has proven difficult. Therefore, Rohit explored ways to balance his work responsibilities with the needs of his family.

Rohit’s work, leading the team of sales commissions in Hyderabad, India, helps with working remotely. She can effectively perform her day-to-day responsibilities without regularly visiting a ServiceNow workplace. As a result, Rohit thought of moving his family to West Bengal, where he and his wife both have an extended family that can help take care of their child.

“We need to give the child a loving and caring environment, so I discussed moving remotely full time with HR and my manager,” Rohit said. “They’re very supportive.”

Rohit and his team have been successfully working from home for the past two years, so he is confident that he can continue to make his remote arrangements for everyone involved. This allows for more flexibility and results in greater productivity.

“Working [remotely] is a great privilege, “he said.” We save a lot of time not commuting, because here travel is a big deal. The time we save by not commuting allows us to get more work and support our families. This blend is one of the best examples of work-life balance. “


Hybrid work environment

Cristen P. is based in San Diego and divides his work day between home and office. A people partner manager, Cristen has been at ServiceNow for just over a year and is onboard remotely. In his role, which includes serving employees (his customers), he feels better if he enters the office part time. Her boss supports it.

“He told me,‘ I think it’s beneficial for you to be in front of people, ’” Cristen recalls. His manager was “like a mentor to me, so he had my best interests in mind.”

Cristen’s flexible work arrangement allows her to do the things she loves, like cycling. He lives about 30 minutes from the office, so he can’t bike to work. But he pulls his bike to the office whenever he can.

“If I get to work early, if it’s quiet, and I don’t have a meeting, sometimes I’ll just put my phone in my pocket and I’ll bike,” Cristen said. “After, I’ll check in and then do some work until 7 or 8 pm. I love that there’s that flexibility and it’s quieter.”

Flexibility has helped Cristen’s mental health. “It provided some structure for me because we were at home and things started to get repetitive,” he explains. “Dressing up for going back to work started to get nice — to change my routine a little bit.”

The office also provides space for Cristen to collaborate and be inspired by his teammates, to ensure employees and customers are successful.

In October 2021, ServiceNow announced a 30-day work from anywhere benefit (conditions apply). Cristen said the Pacific Northwest has been on his mind since it was announced. “I have family in Portland and Seattle, so I think at some point … I’ll make the most of it. I’ll be with my family and I’ll make a mountain bike out of here.”


Full-time in the office

For Workplace Services Site Lead Cinthya S., work has not slowed since the pandemic. Since Cintha is the only one in charge of the office building in New York City, she usually has to be in the workplace every day. But some days he still works from home.

Her work is important to the lifeline of the office because she is responsible for keeping the New York workplace working and functioning. She also raised two young children who study from home. How does he do it? With hard work and support from his manager.

“I feel like this is the first time I’ve had a supervisor show understanding,” Cintha said. “He checks on us almost every week and is constantly looking for new ways for us to do the work remotely when there are days when I can’t get into the office and have to work from home.”

What does a typical week at the office look like for Cintha? “Mondays are usually my busiest days, because I do a lot of office maintenance, like updating our playbooks and completing health assessment scores,” she says.

“Tuesdays and Thursdays are most of my work calls. My boss and I talk a lot about the return-to-workplace phases, to make sure everyone knows what’s going on and there’s smooth and clear communication.”
