ServiceNow is committed to training 1000 Australians in digital skills by 2022

ServiceNow is committed to training 1000 Australians in its NextGen Professionals Program who would otherwise be isolated in the technology field. The nine-week digital bootcamp is offered free of charge and can lead to students finding full-time employment within the ServiceNow job market.

The program breaks down traditional barriers to entry into the ServiceNow job market by empowering people with the right skills, whether they have prior technical experience or not. You can apply here, and while employment is not guaranteed, ServiceNow says its measure of success is placing students on job completion.

The application must be read carefully and will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete. ServiceNow will consider applications focused on racial equality, gender equality, and ending generational poverty. None of the information will be published or shared in a way that can be used to personally identify anyone.

Successful applicants will be asked to complete a digital literacy assessment. If additional training is needed before joining the NextGen Professionals Program, a series of initial online courses will be provided free of charge.

“The data is clear: Australia has a critical shortage of digital skills. Every day, I hear from our customers and partners that attracting skilled talent is a top priority. By expanding the pathways into the technology industry, this commitment will help build the country’s tech talent pool,” said ServiceNow VP and MD ANZ Eric Swift.

ServiceNow has worked with its customers and partners to match potential employers with several organizations that register entry-level roles for bootcamp participants to apply for, some of which are specifically created to match the given training.

Over 70% of the ASX200 are ServiceNow customers, including over 100 local, state and federal government departments and agencies.

“We designed this intensive nine-week program to be open to anyone, so it can jump-start your career. With more than 350 hours of free guided training over two months, it will give people all the tools they need to get started in the tech industry,” said Swift.

The program includes instructor-led classes, hands-on projects, and career skills training. Successful participants receive industry-recognized certifications as ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Certified Application Developer. According to technology recruitment firm Nelson Frank, the Australian average salary for junior ServiceNow Administrators and ServiceNow Developers is $90,000.

The bootcamp is the third NextGen program launched in Australia following a partnership with TAFE NSW, which includes on-the-job learning with TAFE education; and a Community Corporate initiative, which will train 65 refugees through a digital skills training program run by ServiceNow, followed by industry job‑placements with Woolworths, Accenture, and other ServiceNow customers and partners. ServiceNow is also currently offering the ServiceNow Fundamentals training course for free until August 31, 2022.

The next iteration of the ServiceNow digital bootcamp will launch in August 2022, with up to 100 positions available. It will be followed by another intake in October, with more in 2023.
