smallerviceNow (New York Stock Exchange ticker: NOW) is a leading digital workflow company dedicated to bringing better jobs to people. Today it released the “Job Survey”, which is about the impact of COVID-19 on work so far. One of the most comprehensive global surveys of the impact and future opportunities of digital innovation in the way people work and business operations.
Global executives and employees agree that technology enables them to switch to new ways of working at an unprecedented speed, and that digital transformation will accelerate innovation.
ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott said: “The important hub of global digital work is showing everyone the future of work. “Digital workflow is the way business develops in the 21st century. Can not go back. Digital transformation will accelerate. The new way of working will become the norm. We are on the cusp of an unprecedented wave of workflow and workplace innovation. ”
In September, Wakefield Research conducted a job survey on behalf of ServiceNow, which attracted 9,000 executives and employees from various industries including financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, and the public sector.
Major global findings include:
- 92% of executives said that the pandemic caused their companies to rethink their ways of working, while 87% of employees said their companies have created better ways of working since the crisis began.
- Ninety-one percent of executives and 87% of employees said that their companies are transitioning to new ways of working at an unprecedented speed.
- COVID-19 has reduced operating expenses by 88% of global companies surveyed, creating investment opportunities for digital transformation, R&D, marketing and growth.
Enterprises innovate rapidly, but need to step up to keep pace
Half of executives (50%) and more than half of employees (53%) believe that the transition to the new normal will be more challenging than the initial shock of COVID-19. As most companies are at a digital disadvantage, this challenge is even more severe, with 91% of global executives admitting that they still have offline workflows, including document approvals, security incident reports, and technical support requests. Progress has been made, but after working from home for several months, 60% of executives and 59% of employees said that their company still does not have a fully integrated system to manage digital workflows.
Despite adapting to COVID-19, confidence in the company’s ability to quickly transform again is still low
It was discovered that the new system developed due to COVID-19 could be put into use immediately and created better new ways of working for 87% of employees worldwide. However, people think that such a system is still vulnerable to the next major disruption. Most executives and employees point out that key business functions (such as customer service, human resources, and finance) will not be able to be affected within 30 days when other changes occur. Adapt to destruction. This demonstrates the needs and opportunities for strong digital transformation throughout the enterprise.
You are as good as your people.Today’s victory means being better than the competition and embracing distributed work faster
Although executives (99%) and employees (94%) overwhelmingly tout the benefits of remote work, the challenges are becoming more apparent. Both executives (93%) and employees (83%) expressed genuine concerns about how remote work will affect business development. The biggest worry and benefit of continuing to work remotely depends on your location.
- Globally, executives are most worried about output – delays in product or service delivery (54%), while employees are most worried about input – reducing collaboration between business units (48%).
- Employees worldwide say that the time saved from never commuting or going to work (54%) benefits them the most, while executives believe that better use of technology to increase efficiency (50%) is the greatest for their teams benefit.
Personal safety is of the utmost importance: Recovery from working in person depends on whether employees feel safe
60% of employees believe that their company will prioritize business continuity rather than workplace safety. Even more surprising is that 44% of executives actually believe this fact. Even if the company strives to put safety first, many employees think they cannot achieve safety. 46% of employees surveyed stated that they did not believe their company would take the necessary steps to ensure their safety. Surprisingly, the executives agreed. Nearly one-third of global executives (32%) admit that they believe their company will not adopt appropriate security measures.
“COVID-19 has changed the business in the entire region. This is a change we have never seen before, and frankly, many people even think it’s impossible,” said Mark Ackerman, director of the Middle East and Africa region. , ServiceNow. “There is a lot of discussion about adapting to the new normal, but for most companies, the reality is now, and with it comes constant change. For organizations, the key challenge will be to balance the immediate impact on business continuity. Needs and employees’ personal needs, and ensuring that they have the digital skills and resources to cope with the coming wave of change. No matter where it needs to happen, focusing on the work that needs to be done digitally is a key first step in achieving this balance.”
Commenting on these findings, applied futurist and author Tom Cheesewright said: “This research is just right as the company begins to transition from the early chaos of the COVID-19 response to the creation of new sustainable Method. Something incredible is that the achievements under extreme pressure and the core hybrid working technology have been proven, but there is still a lot of work to be done, and it is necessary to design the level of culture, process and behavior and cover it in technology On top of this, and the new social contract between employers and employees, which includes distributed work.”
