At least in the world these 30 bright youngsters from BVC Group of Institutions in Andhra Pradesh underwent training by ServiceNow, a leading digital workflow company. That the wide gap between education and work needs to be bridged is no secret. According to a recent report by CMIE (Centre for Monitoring India Economy), the educated unemployment rate among graduates in India stands at 17.8%. “The future workforce needs to have practical skills to meet the evolving job market,” said Sumeet Mathur, Vice-President and Head of ServiceNow India Development Center. Therefore, this training program is conducted for students.

An online assessment test, with a mix of aptitude, basic programming language, database and logic reasoning questions, was followed by a one-on-one conversation with one of the mentors and thus 30 students were selected for virtual training. program.

The nitty-gritty of the training program
There are four modules that are focused on during the 25-day training program: SN Fundamentals, SN Scripting, Application Development Fundamentals and ITSM Fundamentals. “I found scripting quite difficult. Although scripting or programming is something we learn as part of our curriculum, ServiceNow’s practical modules allowed me to apply myself in a logical way that helped implement the same better,” said Prasad Narakuduru from Odalarevu branch of BVC.

Soft skills are a particular area of ​​focus during training. “Initially, we were taught the basics and the importance of soft skills. We had a one-week training session and were taught how to conduct ourselves in interviews as well as in the workplace. We learned how to communicate -talk clearly, the importance of taking initiative, how to work in a team and how to approach a problem, among other things. Following the soft skills training, we trained to prepare for our exams,” said of Pavani Lakshmi Nandyala, Amalapuram branch from BVC.

There are more labs and practice sessions! “They did a great job helping us understand and test the knowledge we gained from the training sessions; however, despite the simplicity of some concepts, in theory, the practical application is a challenge. The session helped in understanding the need for multiple approaches. to a problem,” said Lakshmi Karri from Odalarevu branch of BVC.

We wonder, if learning is almost a hindrance. Lakshmi said it was tough in the beginning but with the support of their mentors, they overcame them. Three other students we had the opportunity to speak with agreed with Lakshmi. Pavani emphasized the role of mentors as she explained, “Our mentors acted as pillars of support and were always ready to answer any questions. In fact, they encouraged us to ask questions, which greatly helped us in confidence development. They are very patient with us; we can approach them many times for the same set of queries. They play a big role in keeping us motivated throughout our training.”

Future certification exams
After training comes certification vouchers to appear for certification exams to become Certified System Administrators and Certified Application Developers. But the magic happens during training. That’s why when we asked Jhansi Yasaswini Mylagani from the Rajahmundry branch of BVC how she felt about her future after this exam, she said, “Definitely, this program has built confidence in me and made me feel , that I can approach things in a different way. and a better way.”

But the exam is definitely nerve-wracking. “Initially, I was very nervous after I looked at the exam pattern, but my trainers and mentors instilled a new confidence in me. They also helped in my preparation, by helping me go through my e -books, products. documentation and so on,” said Jhansi.

But after training and exams, the future is definitely bright. And above all, their confidence is high. “At first, despite finishing my exams, I had a hard time finding a job. But after completing the program, I had the luxury of picking and choosing, because I already had many offers in hand, which helped boost my self-confidence and encouraged me to work hard to build my future,” said Lakhsmi. They are even more focused now, as Pavani informed us, “Right now, I am focusing all my energy on my current job. I want to further hone my newly acquired digital skills and become one of the best developers of ServiceNow.”

“Next steps following certification expand pathways to employment. ServiceNow works with partners to connect placement opportunities for these students. Up to 60% of certified students are already placed on the roles and others are undergoing the interview process,” said Sumeet Mathur.
