But skateboarder Tony Hawk looked like an ordinary suburban dad on a work trip as he killed time outside his hotel in Sydney on Thursday.

The father of four, 54, was seen scrolling his phone while leaning against the wall while waiting for a friend to come out of the lobby.

That night, Tony was the keynote speaker at the Knowledge 2022 festival hosted by US software company ServiceNow at ICC Sydney.

She was interviewed on stage by Channel Nine presenter Sylvia Jeffreys, who later said it was ‘real buzz’ to talk about the sporting legend.

The Today Extra host, 36, posted a photo of the pair on Instagram, and wrote: ‘After sharing a stage with skateboarding icon @tonyhawk this afternoon I can confirm he’s even cooler than you think. A deadset legend.

‘Thanks, Tony, for a wonderful conversation. It’s a real buzz. ‘

Tony responded to the comments: ‘Thanks for making it easy!’

After the conference, he went out for dinner with friends at the Italian restaurant Pellegrino 2000 in Surry Hills.

The philanthropist was invited to Knowledge 2022 to discuss the ‘power of reinventing and inspiring positive change in the world’.

Tony, from San Diego, is considered a pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, and is known for being the first person to get 900 tricks.

He also earned millions by licensing his name to the popular Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series of videogames published by Activision.

Tony is no stranger to Australian shores, as he has previously appeared in several skateboarding competitions at Down Under.

Sydney’s Bondi Beach is also a level play in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, released for PS2, GameCube and Xbox in 2004.
