Today, cybersecurity provider Trend Micro Incorporated announced the launch of Trend Micro One, a new unified cybersecurity and surface attack management platform. The technology can automatically detect and secure internal and external facing assets with attack surface detection, cyber risk analysis, threat analysis and response.

The cloud-based solution collects more than 250 billion data signals in the user environment, using native sensors in the vast ecosystem of technology partners including Bit Discovery, Google Cloud, Microsoft, Okta, Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow, Slack, Qualys, Rapid7, Splunk and Tenable.

For businesses, Trend Micro’s native data-collection capabilities and the partner’s ecosystem-driven approach have the potential to help gain a clearer insight into the security vulnerabilities that exist in diverse cloud and hybrid cloud environment, through a single platform.

Finding and securing external facing assets

The launch of Trend Micro One comes as more organizations struggle to defend their organizations ’attacks against a growing number of threats.

In the past year alone, nearly 70% of organizations have been compromised by an unknown, unmanaged, or poorly managed internet -facing asset. This is partly due to the complexity of taking an inventory of externally facing assets-where the average organization takes more than 80 hours to produce an accurate picture of their attack.

“As we know, attacks are on the rise. An attack is all cyber assets connected to an organization and all possible attack vectors. Every possible entry point in an organization is an opportunity for an attacker,” he said. said Greg Young, VP of cybersecurity at Trend Micro.

Young argues that security teams are tied to their hands by the facts of alert fatigue from the use of siled cybersecurity solutions.

“The ability to fully detect, accurately diagnose and effectively reduce cyber risk across the enterprise is not done by a single solution. Nor is it solved by a group of independent solutions.” said Young.

As a result, Trend Micro One uses its partner ecosystem to gather data signals across endpoints, cloud services, IoT devices and email, to give users more visibility into the external-facing assets that exist in their environment. It also provides insights into risk exposure and vulnerabilities, so security teams can implement additional controls as appropriate.

The ASM market

Trend Micro One is part of the security and vulnerability management market. Researchers estimate that this sector will grow from $ 13.8 billion in 2021 to $ 18.7 billion by 2026 as the number of vulnerabilities increases, as organizations are subject to a growing number of data privacy regulations and policies.

Trend Micro competes against a range of providers to manage the attack surface, including Palo Alto Networks with Cortex, which continuously maintains an inventory of all internet -connected assets in an enterprise’s environment.

Palo Alto Networks reported last year that it generated $ 4.3 billion in revenue in 2021.

Another competitor is NetSPI, a penetration testing and attack surface management solution provider that raised $ 90 million in growth funding last year.

NetSPI’s ASM offering allows organizations to continuously monitor their attacks to see known and unknown assets facing the public, while offering access to security consultants which can investigate and triage exposures.

The main difference between Trend Micro One and other competitors is that it includes native sensors for a range of cloud endpoints, email, networks and IoT services with a range of integration partners that offer “deeper insights, faster response and superior protection,” for the enterprise. users, Young said.
