KYIV, Nov 4 (Reuters) – Ukraine has enough gas supplies for this winter when taking into account planned imports, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Friday, as the country braced for further strikes of Russia targeting its energy systems.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Shmyhal said Ukraine now has 14.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in its underground reserves.
“Taking into account the expected deliveries from abroad, this amount is enough for the heating season,” Shmyhal said, referring to the October-April period when Ukraine switches to centrally supplied heating in homes.
Ukraine faces a dangerous winter as Russia fires missiles and cruise missiles at its power, water and heating infrastructure.
