Nutanix is linking its hyper-converged infrastructure platform to the ServiceNow IT Operations Management solution. This will achieve far-reaching automation through ServiceNow.
Nutanix hopes to bring the convenience of public cloud to the private cloud environment, and has partnered with ServiceNow to achieve this goal. “Obviously the software you sometimes use is different from Nutanix’s software,” Nutanix’s CTO Rajiv Mirani joked on the stage of the Nutanix Next event in Copenhagen.
The ServiceNow IT operations management platform can now easily discover Nutanix’s hyper-converged infrastructure. ServiceNow can gain detailed visibility across the entire infrastructure: clusters, hosts, virtual machines, storage containers…
Automated management
The Nutanix X-Play engine in the Prism Pro framework is linked to ServiceNow, which means that ServiceNow can be used to warn IT administrators, preferably before the problem occurs. After all, Nutanix uses machine learning to predict the direction of infrastructure development. For example, consider the warning when the storage drive is about to fail before this. The function goes even further. For example, based on the increasing use of computing in recent months, the software can predict that more computing power will be needed in a few weeks. Therefore, the administrator will be warned through ServiceNow before then.
Nutanix will create a ready-made request for each question and route it to the right person through ServiceNow. The latter can approve any measures, and the backend will try to solve the problem as much as possible.
self-service
This automation is essential for quotes. Nutanix wants to centralize and simplify IT management as much as possible so that IT talents can use its functions as efficiently as possible. A new plug-in in the ServiceNow store can solve this problem. This requires self-service for users in the company.
ServiceNow allows organizations to publish blueprints for applications in the catalog. Users such as developers can activate the approved blueprint through the store, and then the Nutanix backend will provide the necessary infrastructure. This feature itself is not new: Nutanix Calm has been offering this option for some time. The integration with ServiceNow is.
For example, imagine that a developer must create a database for a new application. ServiceNow allows developers to browse approved database engines and configurations. If he finds the correct copy, he can request it to be pushed out. Nutanix Calm focuses on the resources required to run the database and configure the infrastructure. Then the backend provides feedback via ServiceNow, stating that the developer is ready. IT administrators no longer need to worry about the rollout and configuration of obvious things.
Cloud computing everywhere
Full integration with ServiceNow ensures that the user experience is close to that provided by the public cloud. After all, infrastructure users can browse well-arranged stores, tick the desired content, and then launch it. Administrators gained insights and saw time-consuming repetitive workloads being automated. It sounds like the ease of use of the cloud comes from the local infrastructure.
