DigiCert and ServiceNow are collaborating to introduce new methods of certificate management in the ServiceNow platform.
DigiCert’s CertCentral application allows administrators who wish to manage the life cycle of a certificate to use the ServiceNow platform to access, and preferences can be synchronized between the CertCentral application and ServiceNow.
According to the Director of Product Management at ServiceNow ITOM, this collaboration aims to help companies help customers deal with digital transformation through automated certificate management.
The two companies said that in an environment where certificate life cycles are getting shorter and shorter, there is an increasing need for digital certificate deployment. This may cause a heavy workload for the IT team, and they must try to balance these situations.
To further complicate the problem, the requirements of the CA/Browser Forum stipulate that the organization must replace the certificate within 24 hours when the key is leaked, or replace the certificate within five days in the case of information changes or technical gaps in the certificate content.
DigiCert and ServiceNow said that IT teams no longer rely on spreadsheets and notifications to manage their certificates.
The two companies also pointed out: “The scale and constant change of public TLS certificate policies require automated and intelligent workflow management to avoid the high costs of expired or non-compliant certificates.”
“Serious interruptions based on expired or revoked certificates may take several days to resolve. According to an IBM study, the hourly interruption cost exceeds $500,000.”
In the CertCentral application in ServiceNow, administrators can:
- Apply, edit and download certificates
- Approve, reject and edit requests and manage users
- Assign roles to ensure proper workflow
- Customize the registration page with other fields
- Customize the email template with additional instructions
DigiCert and ServiceNow aim to provide first-class certificate management digital workflows while managing all IT operations ServiceNow applications in one place.
DigiCert Product Management Director Steve Durham said: “DigiCert is pleased to announce a partnership with ServiceNow to integrate our certificate manager CertCentral into ServiceNow.”
TLS certificate expiration has caused multiple service interruptions. Our integration with ServiceNow certificate inventory and management store apps will help corporate customers use the CertCentral app to automate certificate issuance and other management tasks to reduce downtime, meet industry compliance requirements and improve operations. “
DigiCert also provides a series of TLS/SSL, IoT and PKI solutions for encryption and identity.
The company supports TLS and other digital certificates for PKI deployments of any size through CertCentral.
