IT solutions provider Computer Design and Integration said on Tuesday that it has acquired solutions provider Candoris as a way to double the need for customers’ growing digital transformation by integrating Salesforce and ServiceNow expertise into one organization.

Rich Falcone, President and CEO of the New York-based solution provider and CRN ranked 61st, said that Computer Design & Integration, also known as CDI, has been going through the digital transformation that began four years ago. Practice to build a next-generation solution provider. Top 500 solution providers in 2021.

Falcone told CRN that CDI is a ServiceNow and Dell Titanium partner, and Candoris is an elite Salesforce and Dell Titanium partner.

“I don’t know which other solution provider is certified by both ServiceNow and Salesforce,” he said. “I don’t know if there is any. It is very powerful to have elite Salesforce and elite ServiceNow partners to layer the two data center service businesses.”

He said that the acquisition also allowed CDI to expand its Dell Titanium business and add advanced security products such as penetration testing and management to help customers avoid the impact of ransomware.

Falcone said that given CDI’s previous acquisition experience, Candoris may be called “CDI Company Candoris” for the time being. Like CDI, it has a digital sales team and a data center sales team. Looking ahead, the teams of the two companies will sell the entire CDI product portfolio.

Candoris President and Chief Accountability Officer Stephan Van Der Ploog said his company has been focusing on 10 states around Pennsylvania.

“But in terms of business numbers, we are distributed in 42 states and all are processed remotely,” Van Der Ploog told CRN.

Even so, the acquisition is centered on the corporate culture of the two companies, Falcone said.

“This is not a geo-centric acquisition,” he said. “We will sell it to someone on the moon.”

Falcone declined to disclose the value of the acquisition. “This is an appropriate price,” he said.

“Both sides expressed their gratitude,” Van der Plog said.

Van Der Ploog said that for Candoris, the decision to be acquired was one of the company’s several options. The company has been growing rapidly since its establishment and hopes to enter the next stage of growth.

“A 10-year company supports 100 families, and we can grow organically,” he said. “We tried to do this, but it means deciding between profit and hiring. We can accept an investor. Or we can acquire or be acquired. But the first three options take time. By being acquired, we are overnight The same result was obtained between.”

Van Der Ploog said that for Candoris, the acquisition is important to its employees.

“The biggest problem is the career path,” he said. “With CDI, employees now have new opportunities.”

Neither CDI nor Candoris used external consultants to determine the value of the acquisition.

“Only Stephen and me and our team,” he said. “In all the five transactions we completed, we did not have an advisor. Obviously, both parties have lawyers.”

As the leader of a company, Van Der Ploog said that he constantly evaluates the market, not just from the value of the dollar, but from the perspective of trends.

“For consultants, the acquisition dialogue takes longer,” he said. “We realized that if everything went well, we would all sit on the same side of the table. Company culture is very important, and if we talk one-on-one, it’s easier to resolve.”

Falcone said that he does not intend to acquire multiple companies just for development.

“That was a fool’s errand,” he said. “I’m looking for added value that is meaningful to customers. But I don’t wake up in the morning and think this is what I need to do.”

Falcone said that the root of the acquisition began with a conference call.

“Stephen and I are on the conference call,” he said. “He sounds like a smart person. Like a 23-year-old sales representative, I just received a cold call and talked to him.”

For CDI, Candoris is its fifth acquisition.

The company acquired Kintyre Solutions in February, a system integrator whose practice focuses on cloud-native application development, observability and investigation platforms, cloud optimization, and various security engineering techniques.

CDI acquired High Availability in January to help expand the IT capabilities of the two companies.

The company acquired P5 Solutions in September 2020 to allow it to expand significantly in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas.

CDI also acquired Plan B Technologies’ virtualization expertise in July 2020.

Falcone said that despite all acquisitions, CDI has a good track record of retaining employees.

“We have less than 1% of unplanned personnel turnover,” he said. “That was 4 out of 467. We don’t want to lose anyone, but I am proud of our record.”
