How satisfied are we with cloud providers?

How

From Azure and AWS to Google and Oracle Cloud. From Microsoft 365 to ServiceNow and Salesforce. Which cloud provider are Belgian customers satisfied with?

“There are some questions about Oracle and SAP”

We obtained our data from Whitelane Research’s latest report for Belgium and Luxembourg. A new version of the report will be released soon and an investigation is underway. This is related to the 200 most important outsourcing customers in my country.

The first observation is that the importance of public cloud in outsourcing is systematically increasing. ‘In our research, we calculated on average about three classic outsourcing contracts and three cloud contracts. But Jeff Luce of the aforementioned research organization said that the proportion of clouds within this proportion is increasing.

1. AWS and Microsoft dominate the infrastructure market

The first conclusion is that the three giants of Microsoft, AWS and Google occupy my country’s cloud market. “In terms of infrastructure, AWS and Azure account for 80% of the market,” Loos said. What helps in this is that Microsoft provides software as a service and infrastructure as a service. ‘It is easier for companies to work with a cloud provider. Keep things simple Usually the motto.

2. The top three in infrastructure are also the most satisfied

Surprisingly, the three giants of cloud infrastructure-Microsoft, AWS and GCP (Google Cloud Platform)-also have the highest satisfaction in Belgium’s cloud infrastructure. “You see this all over Europe: these three are the most advanced,” Loos said.

In our country, the satisfaction of these three is above the average level. IBM Cloud averages (76%), but Oracle’s is less than 71%. Although the number of Oracle cloud projects included in the calculation in my country is still limited.

3. How about cloudy?

In terms of infrastructure, there are only five players in the public cloud. Is the concept of combining multiple (public) cloud providers relevant? Avoid the so-called cloud vendor lock-in problem? “This happens more and more in large companies,” Loos replied. ‘For example, among the top 20 largest multinational companies, you will see that they have chosen three suppliers. If you, as a large international company, are also active in China, parties like China’s Alibaba will also appear.

4. Satisfaction with cloud software?

The cloud software market is more differentiated than cloud infrastructure, which also includes names such as Salesforce and ServiceNow. It is worth noting that these groups, together with Microsoft 365, have higher-than-average satisfaction data.

Also striking is that Microsoft Dynamics and Google Suite are slightly below average. This list has been closed by SAP and Oracle. ‘Regarding SAP and Oracle, customers do ask some questions about the pricing structure. Sometimes I hear complaints about their lack of transparency, Loos reveals.
