DevOps: ServiceNow acquires Belgian startup Sweagle

DevOps:

With the acquisition of Sweagle, ServiceNow is expanding the configuration error prevention capabilities of its DevOps and IT operations management solutions.

ServiceNow, a California cloud computing IT service management platform publisher led by former SAP CEO Bill McDermott, announced that it has acquired the young Sweagle startup.

The company was founded in 2017 by Mark Verstockt (CEO) and Benny Van de Sompele (CTO). Its offices are located in Brussels, Paris, London and New York. The startup has developed a solution as a service (SaaS) for managing configuration data for business applications deployed on sites or in the cloud from a single interface.

The whole process is supported by machine learning.

DevOps et IT operation management

Through the acquisition of Sweagle, ServiceNow can attract new talent and expand the misconfiguration prevention capabilities built into its own DevOps and IT operations management solutions.

“With Sweagle’s configuration data management capabilities, we will empower the DevOps team to enable it to deliver application and infrastructure changes faster while reducing risk,” said RJ Jainendra, vice president of GM DevOps and IT, of ServiceNow’s business management.

Nowadays, configuration data (parameters, security information, etc.) is “as important as having good computer code” and emphasizes Mark Verstockt’s point of view. The leader is very happy to join the ServiceNow team. It aims to provide more customers with tools to “provide higher-quality applications without the need for manual input” and without increasing their budgets.

The amount of the acquisition of Sweagle has not yet been determined, and the acquisition will be completed by the end of the summer of 2020. This is after the acquisitions made at the beginning of the year by Loom Systems and Passage AI.
