Forescout and ServiceNow announced that they are strengthening their partnership to enhance operational technology (OT) and industrial Internet of Things capabilities to help organizations protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats.

It is said that new technology integration can help ensure the integrity and stability of critical infrastructure by improving asset intelligence and threat prevention, detection and response to industrial control systems (ICS) and OT environments.

The integration allows the security team to make informed decisions based on the device type and environment to close the security gap with unmanaged OT devices and improve the performance of key indicators such as “Mean Time to Resolution” (MTTR) in repairing easy When the system is under attack or affected.

The two companies pointed out that the Forescout-ServiceNow integrated solution combines complementary technologies for OT discovery, threat detection and configuration management, centralizes security, and improves the resilience of manufacturing, energy, transportation, and other industries. In the industry, more and more Internet connection infrastructure is usually invisible to traditional network security controls. .

Customers who use Forescout to continuously discover and monitor OT and ICS environments can now use ServiceNow’s powerful configuration management database (CMDB) platform for more effective asset, service and security management.

The integration has data-driven capabilities, which can automatically perform device discovery, CMDB updates, and priority remediation or incident management workflows according to risk levels, and easily expand defense capabilities based on technical and business needs.

When Forescout detects that a device is not compliant or threatened, it will create an appropriate ServiceNow event and align it with the CMDB asset record.

Forescout can also automatically respond to events through related network or system operations according to policies, and maintain the accuracy of CMDB asset records through real-time device context.

This will create an end-to-end asset intelligence and event management system that actively reduces risks through simplified operations.

Forescout Chief Product and Strategy Officer Pedro Abreu said: “Forescout and ServiceNow are introducing the future of integrated OT cyber defense.

“Forescout’s strength in control system discovery, classification and threat identification is combined with the powerful functions of ServiceNow CMDB, which provides IT with a single system of record and will help eliminate network blind spots.

“It also reduces unnecessary manual work time and uncertainty, which currently threatens today’s OT and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) landscape.”

As a ServiceNow design partner, Forescout has played a role in helping ServiceNow create new standardized IoT and OT classes for ServiceNow CMDB, thereby realizing a comprehensive CMBD based on real-time device profiles on IT, IoT and OT.

Jeff Hausman, Vice President and General Manager of ServiceNow ITOM, Security and CMDB said: “ServiceNow CMDB is a data platform for IT.

“Enriching ServiceNow CMDB data through Forescout’s continuous device discovery and automated workflows can help customers drive transformation, deliver services, and provide operational flexibility.

“ServiceNow and Forescout enable security teams to better understand their organization’s OT and industrial IoT devices and accelerate incident response to protect critical infrastructure.”

The two companies will continue to work closely together to design the future of ServiceNow CMDB to accommodate the growing device types.

Robyn Westervelt, IDC Security and Trust Research Director, said: “The integration of Forescout with ServiceNow’s CMDB eliminates the need for spreadsheets and manual tasks of populating OT assets into the organization’s CMDB.

“The continuous and up-to-date CMDB across IT and OT eliminates blind spots and reduces network risks.”

Enhanced OT and industrial IoT Forescout-ServiceNow functions are now available.
