Fortinet’s new product links security findings to an organization’s cloud footprint

Cybersecurity firm Fortinet Inc. today announced a new cloud-based product that it says connects security findings to an organization’s cloud footprint to deliver frictionless cloud security operations.

Called FortiCNP, the new service uses Fortinet’s Resource Risk Insights technology to produce context-rich, actionable insights, according to the company. Insights help teams prioritize the remediation and mitigation of risks with the highest potential impact on cloud workload security.

Fortinet argues that the rapid pace of cloud adoption as part of an organization’s hybrid information technology architecture can enable organizations to achieve faster time to market but can increase overall risk in security. The risks presented are often addressed by adding new security solutions to an organization’s infrastructure that offer a litany of alerts that require manual review and can quickly integrate into the cloud deployment of an organization.

FortiCNP is designed to cut through the noise, pointing teams to the security alerts that matter most. The new service integrates with Amazon Web Services Inc.’s security products and services. and the Fortinet Security Fabric to help organizations effectively secure their cloud environments and maximize their cloud security investments.

FortiCNP features include FortiCNP Resource Risk Insights that uses a risk score algorithm to contextualize security findings from the company’s cloud security solutions and AWS products. The combination delivers team-prioritized, context-rich and actionable insights about resources that present the highest risk and require immediate attention.

By analyzing, correlating and orchestrating security findings from AWS cloud security services in FortiCNP, Fortinet said, customers can maximize value and benefit from the easy deployment capabilities Amazon offers. Inspector, AWS Security Hub, Amazon CloudTrail and AWS Organization. FortiCNP also provides integrations with digital workflow solutions such as Jira and ServiceNow.

In addition, customers using Fortinet Cloud Security solutions such as FortiGate-VM and FortiWeb can trigger stop-gap remediation to block high-impact threats. FortiCNP continuously analyzes and monitors changes in cloud data using threat intelligence and content scanning powered by FortiGuard Labs.

“FortiCNP is the latest example of Fortinet’s commitment to delivering Fabric solutions that extend enterprise security with cloud-native integrations,” said John Maddison, executive vice president of products and chief marketing officer at Fortinet, in a statement.
