New South Wales Department of Health Switches to ServiceNow Vaccine Management System-Strategy-Software

New

After the software giant won a $6.3 million deal, the vaccination center operated by the New South Wales Department of Health is migrating to a new ServiceNow-based vaccination management system.

eHealth NSW revealed last week a two-year contract with ServiceNow for its Vaccination Management Management (VAM) platform.

VAM went live for the first time in June and is replacing CoVax. This is a temporary solution developed internally within 21 working days with the help of Microsoft, DGL and Whispir earlier this year.

CoVax was launched in the Local Health District (LHD) in Sydney’s southwest in February to support front-line staff vaccinations. By August, it had expanded to all other locations except for the three LHDs and professional networks.

VAM completed the configuration and implementation in just 10 working days, with a view to accelerating the launch of the vaccine in the second half of 2021.

An eHealth NSW spokesperson told news The ServiceNow platform “ensures scalability and ease of use, and is designed to manage the entire vaccination management.”

It is used to make appointments, track vaccination doses, record clinical information, manage clinic workflows, and interface with the Australian Immunization Registry operated by the Australian Department of Services.

Zoran Bolevich, Chief Information Officer of NSW Health, has previously stated that the system “simplifies and automates the workflow between administrators, clinicians and patients”.

The vaccination centers that used to use CoVax are now gradually migrating to VAM. This is a complicated process because it is constantly updated and the usage rate is still high.

While continuing to promote, eHealth New South Wales stated last month that “the appointment has been successfully transitioned from several on-site clinics, and the speed and efficiency of this process continue to improve”.

Earlier this year, Victoria signed a six-month contract of similar value with its Covid vaccine management platform.

Tasmania has launched the Oracle Health Management System, which allows residents to book vaccinations online.
