Research by Windward Consulting Group shows that ServiceNow plays an important or mission-critical role in 70% of enterprises

Windward Consulting Group, a leading IT consulting provider in the field of IT operations and service management, today announced the new findings of the “2021 ServiceNow Adoption Study: From IT Adoption to Enterprise Transformation”, which further strengthens ServiceNow’s position as a valuable enterprise solution. The full report reveals how IT leaders set short-term and near-term IT goals, budgets, priorities, and resources for US Fortune 1000 companies that use ServiceNow.

Organizations view ServiceNow as an enterprise solution that can drive value in all business functions, and most people believe that it plays an important or mission-critical role.

“IT leaders should examine workflow in the context of how they can improve the experience of employees and customers when they adopt ServiceNow across the enterprise. These areas are mature and can drive operational improvements through ServiceNow,” said Sean McDermott, CEO of Windward Consulting. “We believe this research will help companies and IT leaders compare with their peers and develop stronger and smarter strategic directions for their investment in ServiceNow.”

The momentum to roll out ServiceNow across the enterprise has created a skills gap, and contractors and consultants are filling this gap. Nearly two-thirds of respondents do not rely solely on full-time employees to support their ServiceNow environment. As the demand for skilled ServiceNow team members increases to meet business needs, this talent gap is expected to continue to exist.

The main insights of the study include:

  • 70% of users said that ServiceNow plays an important or mission-critical role in their organization.
  • In areas such as customer service management (CSM) and HR service delivery (HRSD), two-thirds of users have begun to integrate ServiceNow outside of IT.
  • 92% of people put ServiceNow at the middle or top of their priority list.
  • 84% of teams using ServiceNow need help with platform-related management, development, or process and analysis skills.
  • 69% of users said that workflow automation adds the most value when using ServiceNow.

The “2021 ServiceNow Adoption Study” is a quantitative survey that contains 10 core questions about ServiceNow’s current implementation and IT leaders’ forecast plans. Survey respondents received requests to participate in the survey via LinkedIn and email. Users are eligible to work in information technology with target roles and titles based on their match with Fortune 1000 companies using ServiceNow.
