ServiceNow appoints experienced SaaS executive Paul Smith to lead the company’s EMEA region

Today, it was announced that Paul Smith has joined the company as the senior vice president and general manager of EMEA, since 2020 Effective July 7. Since joining the company with Salesforce, Smith has held various positions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the United Kingdom.

Smith has 17 years of technology industry leadership and senior management experience with ServiceNow, and has a good track record in leading sales, entering market operations, and developing new markets to drive triple-digit growth.

Smith will lead a region that includes many of the company’s most important markets and growth opportunities. ServiceNow’s EMEA region revenue increased by 32% year-on-year in 2019; as of the first quarter of 2020, the EMEA region achieved approximately $1 billion in revenue.

Smith succeeded Phillip van der Wilt, who held this position from January 2016 to July 2020. During this time, under the leadership of van der Wilt, the EMEA business developed rapidly, and ServiceNow has a solid position in the entire EMEA.

Smith started his career at Procter and Gamble, but soon after he became interested in the technology industry, he took him to Microsoft and led many innovative start-ups. He joined Salesforce in 2012 to lead its EMEA Marketing Cloud business, and then continued to lead EMEA Cloud Sales until he was appointed EVP and GM UK&I in February 2019.
