ServiceNow includes Mirror42 in Amsterdam

ServiceNow

ServiceNow, a US cloud IT service management software provider, acquired Mirror42 from the Netherlands. This Amsterdam-based company was founded in 2004 and provides performance management software with KPI (key performance indicator) driven dashboards and point cards. This product forms the basis of ServiceNow performance analysis tools for mobile devices.

Mirror42’s KPI dashboard software is used by various parties such as Salesforce and Google. Since its establishment in 2003, ServiceNow has developed rapidly with its software-as-a-service (SaaS) and other service management solutions, and has seized Mirror42’s KPI technology through acquisitions. The American company opened its European headquarters in Amsterdam in 2012, but did not disclose how much it paid for the acquisition.

The two parties have recently started cooperation. ITSM specialist 2e2 Consulting-now incorporated into Logicalis-played a guiding role in this regard. The company suggested that ServiceNow also provide reporting tools and pointed to Mirror42 products. Initially, the three parties reached a cooperation agreement on the Benelux Economic Union. There has now been an acquisition.

The purchase of ServiceNow represents the exit of investor Newion. At the end of 2007, it intervened with venture capital to support the development of Mirror42’s cloud-bi application.

Ambition and 42

ServiceNow was founded by Fred Luddy, a veteran of Peregrine Systems. His goal is to provide a cloud platform for the automated management of the company’s IT processes. Customers can also develop their own management tools on this platform.

The company name Mirror42 is inspired by a passage from Douglas Adams’ sci-fi classic “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. After years of calculation, the computer gave Deep Thought ’42’ as “the answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe, and everything.”
