SkillStorm partners with Serco to expedite opportunities for veterans without a degree through SkillStorm’s DOL-approved IT apprenticeship program

SkillStorm

Jacksonville, Florida–(Business Information)–SkillStorm is a technology talent accelerator that hires, trains, certifies, and deploys IT talents in the most needed technologies. It announced that it has partnered with a large international government contractor Serco to provide veterans and technical careers with access to software through SkillStorm U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program Transition Service Provided by Developers.

“Serco is a great partner, truly committed to providing valuable career paths for veterans and transition service members,” said SkillStorm CEO Justin Vianello (Justin Vianello). “We are happy to work with Serco to provide transition service members with a technical path without the need for a university degree.”

SkillStorm’s 36-month IT apprenticeship program provides veterans and transition service members who have no previous technical experience or degree an opportunity to enter the IT industry. The two organizations are working together to close the technical skills gap so that veterans can acquire the skills and experience needed to obtain high-paying, in-demand careers, while providing business and federal organizations with talent to support critical technology programs.

“72% of transition service members are looking for technical careers, and SkillStorm is the perfect partner to work with Serco to train and prepare veterans for technical careers through its IT apprenticeship program,” said Serco Chairman and CEO David Dacino Said to the partnership. “Serco has been working with SkillStorm for the past three years to acquire highly skilled IT professionals to support mission-critical government programs.”

SkillStorm’s IT apprenticeship program is unique in the industry because it targets an untapped domestic talent pool nationwide, regardless of whether it has a computer science background or a bachelor’s degree. Underemployment continues to plague many of these groups, with 37% of veterans more likely to be unemployed than non-veterans.
