Businesses that implement automation in their organizations — including development, IT operations, and business teams — often find it difficult to measure their automations because of manual or outdated testing methods. This can create more delays that prevent automations from scaling properly, thus defeating the goal of many process automation and digital innovation efforts.
In addition, software testing groups are often thought of as a cost center, rather than a group that can add value to an enterprise. As a result, many test groups are understaffed and overworked. The lack of a common testing approach across the enterprise loop and the increasing complexity of processes also increases frustration.
“Testing always takes up a large portion of time in any development project,” said Jagjit Dhaliwal, Vice President and Global CIO Industry Leader at UiPath. “But it’s also the low-hanging fruit for automation.”
To help businesses combat these issues, UiPath developed the UiPath Test Suite, a test -focused product portfolio powered by the UiPath Automation Platform. The suite’s production-grade, low-code automation and artificial intelligence tools aim to automate testing for businesses, while still allowing companies to manage testing in their own way.
The suite includes four key modules for testing teams that allow them to manage, automate, distribute, and execute their work:
- UiPath Test Manager allows companies to begin the testing process by planning and monitoring tests for automation, applications, or environmental changes. Test Manager includes traceability and visual logging tools that allow companies to quickly diagnose any defects. It can also be integrated with application lifecycle management (ALM) tools, such as ServiceNow, SAP Solution Manager, and Azure DevOps.
- UIPath Studio offers developers a low-code interface, synthetic test data generators, and hundreds of prebuilt activities to test RPA workflows, web applications, SAP, Citrix, APIs, mobile applications, and more.
- UIPath Orchestrator and its automation control center gives businesses the ability to organize, schedule, store dynamic test data, and analyze detailed results for test execution. The tool is Veracode-certified and can also be integrated into a DevOps toolchain.
- Finally, the UiPath Try Robots provides companies with a team of dedicated software robots that run tests identically, perform tasks, and report back at any time.
By using the UIPath Test Suite, the Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDI) in Norway has been able to automate its regression analysis processes. Responsible for implementing national government policy on refugees and inclusion, the government agency’s manual testing processes are slowing down its agile approach to software development.
“Where we previously spent up to three days analyzing regression, RPA is able to reduce it to almost a day,” said Øyvind Woll, a senior advisor at IMDI. “This is a significant time saver. Our goal is to automate 80% of all our regression testing as we go along. ”To learn more about how companies can accelerate their enterprise test automation, watch a webcast with Dhaliwal of UiPath here.
