ServiceNow partner Thirdera secured an IT modernization project with water utility company Yarra Valley Water during the COVID-19 pandemic, replacing its old Cherwell system in the process.
As the project continues and is expected to last an additional 18 months, Thidera has already introduced a team of solutions from ServiceNow to integrate more than 20 applications, automate IT service delivery and measure performance in real -time.
These solutions include ServiceNow IT Service Management, ServiceNow IT Operations Management and ServiceNow IT Asset Management.
Thidera also helped the water utility company launch ServiceNow Workplace Service Delivery and IntegrationHub in less than six weeks last year from February to March.
Yarra Valley Water’s IT refresh has come to replace its previous Cherwell system, which is currently unsupported. In addition, changes to the old system can take several weeks at a time and it lacks self-service capabilities.

The Workplace Service Delivery solution was introduced to meet the safety management needs of employees in the area amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with registration, approval and motion monitoring systems in place. to comply with health guidelines, such as employee office space limitations and maintaining social distance policies.
“With the changing health guidelines, we need to quickly adopt a solution that is handy for employees when we start back in the office. ServiceNow has allowed us to achieve this,” said Kowsikaraman Pattabiraman, senior IT service delivery manager at Yarra. Valley Water.
In addition, employees unfamiliar with specific sites can use the service’s way finder function, which serves as an internal GPS to navigate around sites and locate booked tables.
This is the third IT modernization project announced by Yarra Valley Water in the past four months.
In February, TPG Telecom won a 15-year contract with Yarra Valley Water for the management of up to one million industrial internet of things (IoT) devices.
It will see the publicly listed telco deploy a device management platform on Yarra Valley Water’s 20,000-kilometer pipe network over the next five to 10 years.
A month earlier, in January, it had moved its Oracle software support to third party provider Rimini Street, away from the vendor.
Under the arrangement, Rimini Street will oversee the maintenance and support of Oracle’s Yarra Valley Water software, providing a core support engineer and a team of functional and technical engineers.
