By Tien Tzuo, Founder and CEO at Zuora
With the Subscription Economy growing by more than 435% over the past decade, there is no denying the momentum happening at Zuora. As a result, we are honored to see some of the most talented executives join our goal to help businesses around the world embrace new business models.
This month, I’m excited to highlight three new leaders who will support our accelerated growth. Andrew Cohen joins as Chief Legal Officer, as well as two new independent board directors: Laura Clayton McDonnell, Senior Vice President, Sales for East, Canada, and Latin America at ServiceNow, Inc., and Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, a Senior Advisor at Altamont Capital Partners.
Laura and Amy contribute a new, critical external perspective to Zuora, with particular expertise measuring the world’s fastest-growing company. As a seasoned sales leader, Laura has a thorough understanding of enterprise customers and brings experience as a former in-house attorney for Apple, Cisco, and Sun Microsystems. Amy has a proven track record of guiding businesses toward excellence, including her presence on the boards of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Incorporated, portfolio companies of Altamont Capital Partners, and the Global Advisory Board of Harvard Business School. Duties with leaders such as McKinsey & Company, Inc., Preview Travel, and Wells Fargo also interacted with him on how companies are innovating new business models and launching digital services.
In addition to our executive team of ZEOs, Andrew will replace our former (and first) General Counsel, Jennifer Pileggi, upon her retirement. As the demand continues to unlock new revenue streams at Zuora, a strong legal team helps ensure we measure responsibly while mitigating our risk. After six years at Zuora, I am grateful for the legal team Jennifer established in our early days, and I know Andrew is the right leader to take over our global legal, regulatory, and compliance team.
By focusing on high-growth technology businesses, from private to public and Fortune 500 companies, Andrew brings experience from Pivotal, where he joined the company’s development, then took its IPO, time as a public company, and its last acquisition in 2019 of VMware. Immediately before Zuora, he was a Founder and Chief Legal Officer at software incubator Geometer, along with former Pivotal CEO Rob Mee. He also served with EMC Corporation as VP, Assistant General Counsel.
Beyond his technical expertise, Andrew’s passion for mentorship is a strong complement to Zuora’s own people-first approach. In fact, he taught several individuals who also went on to become General Counsel. We look forward to Andrew’s dedication to our ZEOs with our legal team and beyond.
We’re glad you’re now a member of our board!
