ServiceNow recently signed an agreement to acquire Intellibot, a robotic process automation (RPA) company based in Hyderabad. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Josh Kahn, Senior Vice President of Workflow Products at ServiceNow Creator, said: “ServiceNow is a platform for workflow revolution that provides powerful end-to-end automation capabilities that enable customers to simplify business decisions and unlock new levels of productivity.”

“Our customers account for nearly 80% of the Fortune 500, and the vast majority are working hard to promote the automation of traditional and modern applications,” Khan said. “With Intellibot, we will expand ServiceNow’s ability to help customers connect to systems so that they can easily automate workflows and increase productivity,” he added.
Last year, ServiceNow acquired five companies including Element AI, Loom Systems, Passage AI, and Sweagle to help the company create end-to-end automation.
Why this acquisition
After the transaction is completed, ServiceNow will embed Intellibot RPA functionality in its platform. According to sources, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will enhance ServiceNow’s current automation capabilities.

ServiceNow chose a relatively small start-up supplier because it is easier to integrate their RPA platform than a large platform that may require an overhaul of the entire project. At the same time, Khan reiterated ServiceNow’s commitment to integrate with third-party RPA platforms that customers are already using.
This acquisition is in line with a broader commitment to the Indian market. Currently, India is the second largest R&D center for digital workflow companies. By 2022, ServiceNow plans to develop two new data center facilities in India.
How Intellibot can help
Intellibot will help customers automate repetitive tasks to achieve smart, end-to-end automation, thereby helping to extend ServiceNow’s core workflow capabilities. Intellibot was founded in 2015 by Raghu “Alekh” Barli, Srikanth Vemulapalli and Kushang Moorthy.
The digital workflow platform intends to locally build Intellibot’s functionality into its Now platform. This will enable customers to easily integrate with modern and legacy systems to increase productivity and strengthen existing artificial intelligence and machine learning efforts.
Srikanth Vemulapalli, CTO and co-founder of Intellibot, said: “We are proud to work with ServiceNow because it continues to invest in strong end-to-end automation capabilities to make the world of work better serve people.”
Recently, the cloud-based digital workflow platform launched the latest version of Now Platform, called the Now Platform Quebec version. The latest version has expanded native AI capabilities and new low-code application development tools to help customers innovate quickly, realize value quickly, increase productivity, and provide a powerful experience.
“RPA enhances ServiceNow’s current automation capabilities, including low-code tools, workflows, scripts, integration with more than 150 out-of-the-box connectors, machine learning, process mining, and predictive analysis,” Kahn said.
wrap up
The pandemic has promoted the digital transformation of enterprises. Low code is the key for companies to adapt to the rapidly changing technological environment. Recently, Microsoft released a new low-code programming language Power Fx for its Microsoft Power Platform.
With the adoption of various features and functions, ServiceNow is helping organizations become more agile. The digital workflow company plans to complete the acquisition of Intellibot in the second quarter of 2021 and double its number of employees in the country in the next three years.
